Enjoyable School in Serpong Lagoon that Unites Education With Play

For children playing is an important activity for their growth.
Hanging out and building social interaction is an important pattern of human life processes
to begin early, so humans are referred to as social creatures. Some child development experts agree that play is very important in learning and emotional development for all children. Playing must be a fun experience for children, often a lot of skills can be learned through play. Now, we now meet a school that combines education and play, namely the Hikari School. Located in a beautiful green environment in Serpong Lagoon, South Tangerang, this school is surrounded by shady trees and fresh air. This school was founded in 2011, Hikari School has a concept of child-friendly and fun school. Starting from the village of Koceak Kerangga they only had 2 elementary schools, SDN Tunas Muda and Madrasah al Khaeriyah, which could no longer accommodate children in the Serpong Lagoon area, then opened their hearts to open this Hikari school. Previously in the early 2000s, Mr. Fadilah Hasim et al had already done community activities (volunteers) in the field of education, then ventured to open schools for residents of Serpong Lagoon residential housing and surrounding areas. Mr. Fadilah also has a network in the field of Education from both Japan and Indonesia.

This Hikari School builds character, noble character and has a strong basic knowledge. The Hikari school is present for domestic children to pursue independence and foster the ability to work together. Hikari’s education levels are Kindergarten and Elementary School.

Kindergarten (kindergarten) there are 4 groups there are TK A (2 groups) and TK B (2 groups). Then elementary school (elementary school) amounted to 15 classes, classes 1 – grade 3 each have 3 classes and classes 4 – grade 6 each have 2 classes. For classes 1 – class 3 each class is filled with 21-22 students.

The Hikari school has approximately 390 students. The Hikari school is the same as other public schools in a curriculum that follows the rules set by the Tangerang-south education office, namely curriculum 13.

However, what distinguishes it there are environmental education insertions not including extracurricular but intra-curricular. The Hikari School under the Semarak Foundation has made cooperation with the southern Tangerang city government to implement environmental education, and is assisted by Jica (a social institution based in Japan).

Hikari School prioritizes character first, grades 1 through grade 3 are more filled with play while learning so that the atmosphere of learning remains fluid and not stressful for students. Well, Class 4 goes into academic literacy, starting to be drawn up to have the responsibility of learning, moreover, Grade 6 needs to be prepared to face the national exam does not mean to lose their playing time.

Because the aim of this Hikari school is that in the activity of seeking knowledge there should be no feeling of tension and discomfort so that students feel happy and at ease, and produce quality students in the future.

Hiraki School implements homework (homework) once a week in the form of a journal containing feelings, what is done and then given the opportunity to read in front of his friends this way students are more active in interacting with others and students feel unburdened by the lesson.

Seeing the existing class building at Hikari school is very unique, there are air ventilation holes at the bottom of the class building and there is also an exhaust on the roof of the class that functions to suck up the heat from the classroom and throw it through the exhaust to the roof and then enter fresh air from the hole – holes under the class.

With the concept of a school like this at first the biggest challenge was from parents of prospective students who still doubted the concept. Because often questioning the child’s learning activities, which are seen only drawing, discussing and playing. Questioning when to study? however, it is always delivered well, given a detailed explanation so that the prospective student’s parents can understand. One more thing in this Hikari school is there is no ranking, with the intention of not comparing one child to another because in essence humans are born to be champions in their respective fields thanks to God’s gift. Now in this Hikari school you are given insight into how to care for the environment, good manners, and the meaning of togetherness. Now the obstacle is that students are not accommodated at Hikari and more facilities need to be added to support facilities for students.

Hikari students not only come from residents of Serpong Lagoon and surrounding areas, but also come to the BSD City area. Although there are still many shortcomings, the Hikari school always continues to improve and is always a source of light for knowledge that never goes out.

His biggest hope is to improve the quality of Hikari’s teachers and facilities, and certainly to make children at home in this Hikari school.
